LA Fire Help
It’s January 2025, and our city has been scarred by unprecedented fire damage. Our friends’ homes have burned down, some homes in affected areas were spared, but smell of smoke and rotten food. Below are some resources if you want to help. If you need help, please reach out to me on insta @cajetsetter.
I will try to keep this updated as information is changing often.
Here is an incredible spreadsheet being managed by Music Industry Volunteers including both affected members of the industry community and their gofundmes as well as resources for those folks including free studio time, fundraiser information, and information about recovery efforts. Look for your need on the tabs at the bottom.
KC Mancebo has launched Altadena Musicians, a registry for musicans who lost their instruments in the fires. They can register there and the organization is helping to source new instruments.
Here is a spreadsheet of volunteer opportunities across town. Each day is updated on its own tab, and whoever is managing it is doing a spectacular job. Make sure you’re looking on the right tab for the day you want to volunteer, and double check if that organization requires a signup in advance. You can also register to volunteer with LA County at volunteer.lacounty.gov.
The Global Empowerment Mission is also posting updated volunteer activities.
No Creeps has compiled a PDF with resources from Mutual Aid LA, Musicares, Sweet Relief, We Are Moving The Needle, The Black Music Action Foundation, The Entertainment Industry Foundation and more. You can check out all these resources here.
The lovely miss Riji Raja, the founder of Affirmation Darling is offering free bracelets to those affected by the fires. She has sent a bunch to me, so reach out if you would like one, with affirmations such as “safe” and “soar.” Sometimes, a small token makes all the difference.
The incomparable Mr. Geoff Walker is providing Visa Gift Cards and new shoes directly to families in need, particularly those displaced by the Eaton fire. If you are in need, or want to contribute to his efforts, reach out.
