For Our Bookworm Friends
I met ALEX SEGURA when we worked on an Archie Meets Ramones miniseries of graphic novels in 2016. Since then, he has gone on to win a ton of awards for his series about detective Pete Fernandez, his new series about the (fictional) female comic writer who created the Legendary Lynx, Carmen Valdez, in Secret Identity and its sequel, Alter Ego, and his comics & graphic novels for all your favorite superheroes. Any of Alex's books are fantastic for mystery lovers, feminists, and superhero fanatics. I bet if you ask nicely, he’ll even sell you an autographed copy for your intended recipient. Or for yourself. Cause buying stuff for you is what the holidays are about, too.
Andrew Gumbel is one of those fabulous friends who always has an informed and nuanced take on the world, and writes interesting books about relevant topics that nerds like me always want to know more about. Whether it’s a re-examination of a sensational crime from the perspective of the accused in Honor Bound, a deep look at the way that colleges and universities can support students from underpriviledged backgrounds to even the playing field in Won’t Lose This Dream, or looking at our corrupt election system that unfortuantely well proceeds 2016 in Down For The Count, all of Andrew’s books buck conventional wisdom and commonly accepted truths to dig at, well, the actual truth. Great for fans of non-fiction.
